Short Bio
Romy Natalia Goldberg is a Paraguayan-American author with a love for stories about culture and communication. After a childhood with the Foreign Service, and a stint in advertising she turned to writing. Her guidebook OTHER PLACES TRAVEL GUIDE TO PARAGUAY, was published in 2012, updated in 2017 and lead to work with “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,” The Guardian and KCRW’s “Good Food.” Her debut picture book, THE GOODNIGHT SHIFT will be published by Scholastic in 2025. Long Bio
Romy Natalia Goldberg is a Paraguayan-American author with a love for stories about culture and communication. Her childhood was spent moving from country to country with the Foreign Service, visiting Paraguay whenever possible. She holds a B.A. in Media Studies from Pomona College and worked in PR and advertising before turning to writing. Her travel guidebook, OTHER PLACES TRAVEL GUIDE TO PARAGUAY, was published by Other Places Publishing in 2012, updated in 2017 and lead to work with “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,” The Guardian and KCRW’s “Good Food.” Her debut picture book, THE GOODNIGHT SHIFT will be published by Scholastic in 2025. Romy Natalia Goldberg is the RA for SCBWI Brazos Valley and the co-founder of Kidlit Latinx, a Facebook support group for aspiring Latinx children’s book authors and illustrators. She also sits on the SCBWI Spanish Language and Legacy Committee and is a contributor to the Latinx in Kidlit website.

Fun Facts
I was almost named after a popular soda in Paraguay, Mirinda Guaraná.
I learned Spanish with my mom and English with my dad. My mom also taught me some Guarani, though now I have a teacher called Mariela. I never do my homework on time!
I have lived in nine countries: the Dominican Republic, the United States, Colombia, Mexico, Bolivia, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina, and Paraguay (twelve if you count Texas).
My top weaknesses is bakery grade dulce de leche (“repostero”).
When I was a kid my TV favorite shows were El Show de Xuxa and Supercampeones. My favorite books were the Anastasia Krupnik series by Lois Lowry, Calvin and Hobbes and Quino’s comics.
I used play travel guide writer with my sister. We took turns as owners of increasingly wacky hotels that needed to be reviewed (one place only offered apples for breakfast!).
I am afraid of cows.
I got to work with famous chef Anthony Bourdain, but sadly he did not cook for me.
I own two ducks and half a black dog called Lemon/Limona.
